Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun. One of the best benefits from technology integration is the ability to connect with experts and other learners. Teachers no longer have to teach the content, but rather can allow students to seek out the "teacher" and experience it first hand alongside an expert or peers. It is about unleashing possibilities and forming connections, both relationally and conceptually. Using technologies like virtual lesson plans and internet resources can help free up time -- both in developing and delivering curriculum. This allows teachers to spend more time with the students who are struggling, ensuring the whole class is better prepared for tests and advancement. The way technology is developing it will be in our interest to make use of Information technology in very possible way. Talking about smartphones, tablets, iPads, now students can even attend online classes on it anywhere, anytime they want by using simple apps. One of the best advantage's is that shy students are able to participate in a way they have never been able to before, and also the students who struggle with writing are able to express themselves in a new way. New tech tools for visualizing and modeling, especially in the sciences, offer students ways to experiment and observe phenomenon and to view results in graphic ways that aid in understanding. Integrating the internet with the students learning broadens their learning through digital information that can be far more current to the prescribed curriculum and textbooks.

    Information Technology in Education
INTRODUCTION Information Technology in Education, effects of the continuing developments in information technology (IT) on education.
The pace of change brought about by new technologies has had a significant effect on the way people live, work, and play worldwide. New and emerging technologies challenge the traditional process of teaching and learning, and the way education is managed. Information technology, while an important area of study in its own right, is having a major impact across all curriculum areas. Easy worldwide communication provides instant access to a vast array of data, challenging assimilation and assessment skills. Rapid communication, plus increased access to IT in the home, at work, and in educational establishments, could mean that learning becomes a truly lifelong activity—an activity in which the pace of technological change forces constant evaluation of the learning process itself.

  4. Plenty of Educational Resources: Information technology makes it easy to access academic information at any time. Both students and teachers use Information technology to acquire and exchange educational material. For example; teachers can easily provide visual and audio classes to their students using computers and broadband internet. This breaks the boundaries of accessing information, because the student will simply attend a lecture while not in a physical classroom. Also teachers can assign tasks to students via electronic email or campus educational forums.

Instant Access to Educational Information: Information technology speeds the transfer and distribution of information. Students can easily access academic data using computers and new technologies like mobile phone application. IT experts have coded educational applications which can be used by students to access information very fast. These mobile phone applications are replacing some old methods like borrowing of books in libraries, now days students can use Library mobile phone applications to download books inform of e-books, so they have these books at any time which saves them time and helps them read at any time anywhere.

Ten reasons school / college implement technology
    1) If used correctly, will help prepare students for their future careers, which will inevitably include the use of wireless technology.
    2) Integrating technology into the classroom is definitely a great way to reach diversity in learning styles
    3) It gives students the chance to interact with their classmates more by encouraging collaboration.
    4) Technology helps the teachers prepare students for the real world environment. As our nation becomes increasingly more technology-dependent, it becomes even more necessary that to be successful citizens, students must learn to be tech-savvy.
    5) Integrating technology in education everyday helps students stay engaged. Today’s students love technology so they are sure to be interested in learning if they can use the tools they love.
    6) With technology, the classroom is a happier place. Students are excited about being able to use technology and therefore are more apt to learn.
    7) When mobile technology is readily available in the classroom, students are able to access the most up-to-date information quicker and easier than ever before.
    8) The traditional passive learning mold is broken. With technology in the classroom the teacher becomes the encourager, adviser, and coach.
    9) Students become more responsible. Technology helps students take more control over their own learning. They learn how to make their own decisions and actually think for themselves.
    10) Student can have access to digital textbooks that are constantly updated and often more vivid, helpful, creative, and a lot cheaper than those old heavy books.

  8. Access to learning material-
The internet is full of a lot of learning material that the learner can access and use to supplement whatever is provided for in the classroom. There are e-books, revision guides and past examination papers that are available on the world wide web and students can take advantage of these to improve their knowledge base

    Continuous learning-
In the modern world, you don’t have to be in the classroom to learn. Using information technology in education has made it possible for students to keep on learning, irrespective of where they are. Teachers and professors can send assignments to students and they can complete and submit them even without physically stepping into the classrooms and so learning never has to stop.

    Sharing of knowledge-
Through online discussion forums, students can share knowledge, engage in intellectual debates and generally learn from one another. Using information technology in education has basically made it possible for students from all over the world to come together and share experiences,

    Distance learning-
To adapt to a changing population with unique demands, learning institutions have employed the use of information technology in education to cater for this new demographic
    Proper record keeping-
It is possible to keep student records in a more systematic and secure manner using technology. Unlike in the past when records used to be kept manually and there were many cases of lost files, the incorporation of information technology in education has made it possible for safe and proper record keeping.

Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun.Technology is helping teachers to expand beyond linear, text-based learning and to engage students who learn best in other ways. Its role in schools has evolved from a contained “computer class” into a versatile learning tool that could change how we demonstrate concepts, assign projects and assess progress.it help in Global LearningAt sites like Glovico.org, students can set up language lessons with a native speaker who lives in another country and attend the lessons via videoconferencing. Learning from a native speaker, learning through social interaction, and being exposed to another culture's perspective are all incredible educational advantages that were once only available to those who could foot a travel bill. Now, setting up a language exchange is as easy as making a videoconferencing call.Virtual Manipulatives Let's say you're learning about the relationship between fractions, percents and decimals. Your teacher could have you draw graphs or do a series of problems that changes just one variable in the same equation. Or he could give you a "virtual manipulative" like the one above and let you experiment with equations to reach an understanding of the relationship. The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives. Technology plays a very vital role in the form of information.Through technology we can purchase books for reading . Example- Amazon, Snap deal etc.

Since the dawn of the 21st century, technology has crept its way into learning and teaching environments. As more technological advancements are made, then there is dire need for increased literacy levels on the use of this technology. Here are some of the roles played by information technology in education.

Information technology in education has improved communication. In regions that were once thought hard to reach such as places in sub-Saharan Africa are now accessible through eLearning. Tutors can lecture learners over long distances and scholars can achieve their academic papers through eLearning. Also, students that feel like studying from home can now do it.

Advancement of information technology in education has improved research. There are very many online libraries that assist teachers and students with comprehensive reading materials. Teachers and lecturers are also able to post their work online for their students to read.

For children with disabilities, information technology in education has brought gadgets to help them with learning. For instance, the hearing impaired use electronic devices called hearing aids. They can also use visual learning where sign language is used on electronic media to enhance communication. This has been a role of information technology in education.

More academic systems should embrace technology because it makes teaching more effective and aids in practical learning. Students should also embrace it because in the future, most of the jobs will be technologically based. With time, everyone will see the significance of information technology in education.

As a student, my views to look at the developments in Information Technology in terms of helping us in studies will be the understanding and knowledge of the consequences of the information technology in studies as well as for the work and organisation of a company. IT qualifications are developed by means of their integration in all activities in the education sector and
The individual citizen must have an active and critical attitude to developments and not passively allow technological development to set the pace. The advantage of using information technology is that time-consuming work routines can increasingly be performed by means of this technology and time can thus be devoted instead to communicating and informing, to the processing of information and the production of knowledge.Up-to-date qualifications in the information society. Up-to-date qualifications gained against the background of a high general level of education in the population to maintain competitiveness and its share of the global labour market in the information society. IT skills and IT understanding are thus central prerequisites for the individual, both now and especially in the future. Information explosion is an ever increasing phenomena therefore there is need to get access to this information. Education should meet the needs of variety of learners and therefore IT is important in meeting this need
It is a requirement of the society that the individuals should posses technological literacy. We need to increase access and bring down the cost of education to meet the challenges of illiteracy and poverty-IT is the answer. The learner-centered label now gets attached to teaching strategies, teachers, classes, programs, departments and institutions. Active learning, student engagement and other strategies that involve students and mention learning are called learner-centered. And although learner-centered teaching and efforts to involve students have a kind of bread and butter relationship, they are not the same thing.

    1. Learner-centered teaching engages students in the hard, messy work of learning.
We ask the questions, we call on students, we add detail to their answers. We offer the examples. We organize the content. We do the preview and the review. On any given day, in most classes teachers are working much harder than students. We are not suggesting we never do these tasks, but we don’t think students develop sophisticated learning skills without the chance to practice and in most classrooms the teacher gets far more practice than the students.

    2. Learner-centered teaching includes explicit skill instruction.
Learner-centered teachers teach students how to think, solve problems, evaluate evidence, analyze arguments, generate hypotheses—all those learning skills essential to mastering material in the discipline. They do not assume that students pick up these skills on their own, automatically. Research consistently confirms that learning skills develop faster if they are taught explicitly along with the content.

    3. Learner-centered teaching encourages students to reflect on what they are learning and how they are learning it.
Learner-centered teachers talk about learning. In casual conversations, they ask students what they are learning. They challenge student assumptions about learning and encourage them to accept responsibility for decisions they make about learning; like how they study for exams, when they do assigned reading, whether they revise their writing or check their answers. Learner-centered teachers include assignment components in which students reflect, analyze and critique what they are learning and how they are learning it. The goal is to make students aware of themselves as learners and to make learning skills something students want to develop.

    4. Learner-centered teaching motivates students by giving them some control over learning processes.
It is a common belief that teachers make too many of the decisions about learning for students. Teachers decide what students should learn, how they learn it, the pace at which they learn, the conditions under which they learn and then teachers determine whether students have learned. Students aren’t in a position to decide what content should be included in the course or which textbook is best, but when teachers make all the decisions, the motivation to learn decreases and learners become dependent. Learner-centered teachers search out ethically responsible ways to share power with students. They might make classroom policies something students can discuss. They might let students set assignment deadlines within a given time window.

    5. Learner-centered teaching encourages collaboration.
It sees classrooms (online or face-to-face) as communities of learners. Learner-centered teachers recognize, and research consistently confirms, that students can learn from and with each other. Learner-centered teachers work to develop structures that promote shared commitments to learning. They see learning individually and collectively as the most important goal of any educational experience.

  19. Sandarbh Singh (F.Y.PGDM)(31): Today teaching and learning method has become very easy than what it was years back . As we all know that IT in terms of helping us in studies is developing day by day and becoming more convenient ,nowadays many educational sites has come up with detail information and knowledge for various activities in educational sector.Educational sites like siksha.com,Big Think,Academic EF.Y.PGDM)arth,Bright Storm etc are doing too well in providing their best of the knowledge and infomations to the students. To get more consumers, they are coming up with more and more innovative strategies on learning and teaching methods. The advantage of using IT is that time consuming work routines can increasingly be performed by the use of technology and thus the time can be invested in communicating and informing and also to the processing of information and production of knowledge , IT explosion is an ever increasing phenomena therefore there is need to get access to the information.IT plays a biggest role in the evolution of learning process thus IT brought a revolutionary change in the educational establiahment. Now we have easy access over communication through learning and teaching process. It is important in meeting the need and requirement of society and individuals, and because of IT we have various ways of learning and teaching .IT has a major impact across curriculum areas of gaining knowledge

Technology has failed to transform our schools because the education governance system insulates them from the disruptions that technology creates in other organizations. The government regulates schools perhaps more than any other organization. Rules govern where students study, how they will learn, and who will teach them. Education regulation governs the relationships of actors in the system and stymies the impact of innovative technologies. Furthermore the diffuse system of governance creates numerous veto points to limit innovation.

To overcome these obstacles, we must persuade teachers that technology will empower them and help their students learn. We argue that there are five strategies for successful teacher adoption of education technology and that these principles will help fulfill the potential that Edison saw a century ago:

Schools must use technology that empowers teachers. Teachers rightly reject education technologies that divert their attention from instruction. The best education technologies enable teachers to do more with fewer resources. Communication platforms like Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr enable dynamic communication with students. Teacher-empowering technologies include mobile apps that grade written student work and provide lesson plan databases. School systems need to aggressively track what works for their teachers and put all other unworkable technologies aside.

While technology has changed what is possible to learn and how students can be supported in their learning, the principles of effective instruction haven't changed. The technology does not drive learning, it is simply what mediates and supports the process. It is vital that professors, instructors and teachers remain focused on the effective process of learning and their own teaching strategies and methods. The technology changes how effective teaching strategies can be achieved more accessible and at a higher level.

Today,as education systems are currently undergoing significant change brought about by emerging reform in pedagogy and technology. Increased use of technology for lesson planning and preparation. Implementation of all or part of the unit plan designed in the training. Use of technology in new ways with students. Increase in project based learning activities with students. Smart learning environments utilize education technologies to provide essential tools for educators to personalize learning, adapt teaching and assessments, and create authentic learning environments for students. Effective elearning environment combine student and teacher devices with high-quality education software, broadband internet access, robust infrastructure, and secure cloud services to bring resources into the classroom and enable personalized learning experiences.
